Retain Wes Cornelius for Chelan County Assessor
It has been an honor to serve as your Chelan County Assessor. Since being appointed in 2023 and elected by the voters, I have focused on transparency, fairness, and protecting taxpayers while ensuring our office complies with Washington State law.
Property taxes and assessments continue to be one of the most important and challenging issues facing property owners. The assessor’s office is responsible for valuing property fairly and equitably under state law, while tax rates and budgets are determined by taxing districts and the legislature. My goal has always been to help taxpayers better understand this process and ensure assessments are accurate and defensible.
During my time as assessor, I have continued modernizing office operations, improving public communication, cross-training staff, and promoting exceptional customer service. I have also worked directly with our legislators in Olympia to advocate for meaningful property tax relief for seniors, disabled citizens, and veterans. These efforts contributed to the passage of HB 2375 and ESSB 6162, legislation that expands eligibility and benefits under Washington’s property tax exemption programs beginning in 2027.
With decades of experience in real estate, appraisal, and tax administration, I understand the complex issues affecting Chelan County taxpayers. I will continue working to ensure fair and equitable assessments, responsible leadership, and open communication with the public.
I respectfully ask for your vote so I can continue serving the people of Chelan County with integrity, experience, and dedication.
